Vibraphonic Festival – an evening with SWMS!
3rd March 2017 | Posted by admin
Supported by The Hinrichsen Foundation, South West Music School has been given the opportunity to perform at Vibraphonic Festival – a festival celebrating all things diverse and progressive in reggae, jazz, hip hop, soul, funk, blues and many other genres. It’ll be taking place in over 50 venues across Exeter between Thursday 3rd – Saturday 26th March 2017.
SWMS students are proud to be performing at the festival…
Venue: The Exeter Phoenix, main auditorium
Date: Sunday 12th March 2017
Time: 7pm
Featuring the latest work from some of our fantastic Composers:
Owen Davies
Horace Halling
Oren Velasquez Hirtenstein
Shay Newcombe
Following on from our February Composer residential held at Sound Gallery Studios in Exeter, SWMS Composers turned recordings from and inspired by their local environment into amazingly creative and original musical works, combining live and electronic music.
They will be joined by students from our Core Programme who are performing a wide range of music including jazz, metal, and a fusion of new contemporary and jazz inspired pieces:
Finn Bognuda (singer songwriter) performing his own composition
Ollie Loram and band (Djentlemen) performing a selection of covers and their own creations
Libby Morison (singer songwriter) performing her own jazz inspired songs
Ashley Scott (pianist) performing ‘Improvisation in F Minor’
Ruby Spencer (singer songwriter) performing her own compositions
This is just a small sample of the astonishing range of talent that we have at South West Music School, a Centre of Advanced Training for young musicians from all across the South West.
Come along and support us! 7pm on March 12th at Exeter Phoenix.
