Harriet Riley
Originally from Devon, Harriet studied Orchestral Percussion at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and graduated in 2014. She is now freelancing in Bristol and playing in a variety of ensembles and genres. Having played a number of festivals in the summer, 8 piece Ethiopian-jazz band “Tezeta” is in the process of recording their first album featuring Harriet on vibraphone and extra percussion. She’s also just completed a tour with “Heg and the Wolf Chorus”, a Bristol-based theatrical folk band supporting Moulettes and Nizlopi. Harriet also does extra work in a number of orchestras around Bristol and the surrounding area. Having just worked with New Music in the South West, contemporary music is a big part of Harriet’s growing career. Both composing and playing, Harriet will be performing a recently devised show called “Walk Ashore” with Thimble Theatre, originally funded by the Veronica Stewart Arts Trust. Harriet has a love of cross-disciplinary arts; working with dancers, artists, actors as well as other musicians to create new, exciting platforms for the growing percussion world.
