When did you join South West Music School?
In 2014

What do you play?
The trumpet, piano and voice

When did you first get into music and what inspired you to do so?
I have always liked listening to music. I got into playing music when I was five – I liked listening to my older brother practice.

Who/what are your musical influences?
I like Tine Thing Helseth as a trumpeter. I like classical and film music (especially when I have seen the film).

What would you say has been your biggest or most favourite achievement to date?
Singing the ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ solo for the BBC Somerset Christmas Carol concert last year with the County Youth Choir. I have also been really pleased to get into the National Children’s Orchestra this year, and to pass my Grade 7 Trumpet and Grade 5 Piano in the same week last term.

What do you enjoy about being part of South West Music School?
It’s different – we do improvisation and get to do things and think about music in a different way. In other orchestras you often just have to play the music as written.
